Sunflower Power

July 3rd, 2009

I love sunflowers.  They are big and bright and happy.  They almost seem to smile at passers-by, bringing the joy of sunshine sparkles into every person.

On another note, in today’s age of recycling, reusing and waste management Tote bags have become a necessity in most grocery stores (unless you want to pay for the boring on plastic bags… but who wants to do that…).

And so, if you are sunflower-loving, cloth-bag-using, earth friendly person, why not check out this great bag which combines the beauty of flowers with good ol’ green living: http://www.cafepress.com/labelstone.271788668

Have a sunshiny smiley day, and let’s save our earth together!

Spencer Photos offers amazing photography

June 19th, 2009

HydrangeaIf you want to see some fantastic amazing shots of wildlife, flowers, and other subjects, you should head on over to Spencer Photos CafePress shop.

Although it was hard to choose from their vast selection of great photography stills, I choose to review a shot of a Blue Hydrangea flower.  We have planted a couple of hydrangeas over the years, and unfortunately the one that did the best and grew into a great bush was the one we planted at our old house, which means we can’t really enjoy it any more.  The photo’s of the hydrangea that Spencer Photos has available on their CafePress shop are simply perfect.  They have successfully captured the hues of blue and purple.

Check out their shop, as they have photos of wildlife, scenery, various flowers, and even a spot to contact them for custom shots.

Rainy Day Tote Bag at Go Camel Art and Photograpy

June 7th, 2009

Wouldn’t this bird have looked great on Captain Jack Sparrow’s shoulder?  I’ve always been amazed at the bright colors of parrots.  They look like they’ve been painted by a child with a yen for primary colors.  With all the different varieties and color patterns, though, they are one of the most recognizable types of birds.  You may not know what type it is, but you always know it’s a parrot.

Parrots are also well known for their intelligence and skill at mimicry.  When you “parrot” what someone says, you repeat it, over and over.  You’ve probably seen some incredible clip on an animal planet show or on youtube of a parrot making fart noises or playing “dead bird.”  They seem to be natural performers often dancing or performing other tricks.

As amazing and fun as they can be, if you decide to find a parrot for yourself, pay careful attention to where it came from as many endangered wild species are being captured and smuggled into the country for the pet industry, and often the birds don’t survive.

You just need to ‘Forgive’

May 8th, 2009

There’s a song I know which says, “Forgiveness.  Such a simple word to say, but I’ve been witness how easy pride gets in the way.”

How true.  I’m sure we have all experienced the need to both give and receive forgiveness.  Mistakes are such a part of life, that we all ought to be well practiced at forgiveness, finding it as easy as our A,B,C’s.  Yet this ’simple’ thing is often avoided, and so often the cause of hurt and break-ups and pain and fighting.

That is why I love this design.  There is nothing fancy to it, just like there is nothing fancy to the idea.  All it says is ‘forgive’.  All we need to do is forgive.  If we can just do that…. imagine what our world could be like.

A Fresh Look at Going Green

April 30th, 2009

Sure, everyone is talking Green these days, but one shop, Fresh Green Tees has something most shops don’t:  Unique designs on a variety of great CafePress.com products.  The We Want Electric Cars design looks great on a variety of T-Shirts.  The Be Green Along with Me design looks particularly good on the organic cotton Tee.  And you are sure to get lots of comments if you bring this coffee mug in to work or school.  Whether you are looking for reusable grocery bags, buttons, refrigerator magnets, or a huge variety of shirts, Fresh Green Tees should be on your list of shops to visit.

My Family Loves Me, they told me about Jesus

April 15th, 2009

If you have never been to At Ease Tees’ CafePress shop, you should definately go there and check things out.  They have a wide variety of uplifting designs, Christian themed designs, and even Custom products available.  That’s right, I said Custom.  At Ease Tees has a entire section of Custom designs that is on display to give you an idea on what he can do.

My Family Loves MeThe design I decided to review this month was not out of his custom designs, but out of his “Someone Loves You” designs.  The design simply says “My Family Love’s me, they told me about Jesus”.  At Ease Tees has used the all encompassing heart as a symbol for love, with is especially true for this design.  I think it is important for everyone to be taught about Jesus and the sacrificing he did for us.  If you want to see a wide range of Christian themed designs, At Ease Tees is the place to go.

Hoof it on over to “LITTLE BLUE PONY”

April 5th, 2009

If you’d rather be hanging out in a stable than a shopping mall…. this is the shop for you!  This tote bag is one of the many unique designs of Nicole’s in the Little Blue Pony Shop of CafePress that caught my eye.  Check out her shop at http://www.cafepress.com/littlebluepony and you will not be disappointed.  There are many great gift ideas for Mother’s and Father’s Day coming up in May and June.

I love ponies

Gutter Bunnies?

April 5th, 2009

You know, I’ve heard of Easter Bunnies, Little Bunny Foo Foo, and Buns of Steel, but Gutter Bunnies  was a new one for me.

You’ve seen them.  They’re common fauna in the cities.  The little spandexed derrieres bobbing up and down as they push the pedals on their bicycles, wobbling along in the gutters as the traffic whizzes by mere inches away from them on their commute to work, are the few, the dauntless, the bicycle commuters.

Brave souls.  My bike hides in the corner of the garage with an apparently permanent flat tire.  It doesn’t get out much.

But, these stubborn, determined people we make fun of as they bob their way through rain and impatient guided missiles on their way to work every day are doing their part to reduce global warming, so give them a little safety zone and and maybe a shirt for Christmas and, if you are one, wear it with pride.

Be Green, Not Mean

March 24th, 2009

Fresh Green Tees is the name of a shop in Cafepress devoted to environmental issues. One of the designs in this shop, “Be Green, Not Mean,” is really simple and to the point. We should all consider how “green” our actions are and how they will affect the rest of our world, and not just consider what we want. This is a simple, bold statement that any environmentally conscious person should enjoy displaying.

You can see this design at: http://www.cafepress.com/freshgreentees/5663060
